Katherine Heigl has decided not to submit her name for Emmy consideration this year. Katherine explained the reason behind her decision in a statement released by her publicist.
Katherine Heigl Withdraws From Emmys
Heigl won best supporting actress last year, cursing right after her name was announced.Katherine Heigl has removed her name for Emmy consideration because she doesn’t feel that this season’s Grey’s Anatomy had a performance by her, worthy of an award win.
Heigl was honored last year with the Emmy for best supporting actress in a drama for Grey’s, and didn’t submit her name for a bid (the usual course of action), her spokesperson said Wednesday.
Heigl says she won’t be in the running because of poor material.
“I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization” she decided to pull out, Heigl said in a written statement released by her publicist, Melissa Kates.
“In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials,” Heigl said.
The Knocked Upstar plays Dr. Izzie Stevens on Grey’s, a show that saw its ratings plummet in the past year partly because of poor story lines, but mostly because of the writers’ strike.
